Penn Hills politicos reschedule meeting

By yourpennhills

Created Mar 19 2009 - 4:28pm

Politics came before business Monday in Penn Hills.

The municipality's council usually would have met that night, but instead, local Democrats gathered to endorse candidates in the upcoming primary.

All five members of council are Democrats. Two -- Sara Kuhn and the Rev. J-La Von Kincaid -- are up for re-election. Both received their party's backing.

The council meeting was rescheduled ...

Penn Hills seeks to end sewerage surcharge

Tuesday, March 03, 2009

By Deborah M. Todd, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Penn Hills council's approval of a new collection agency for delinquent sewerage accounts could help the municipality lower and eventually eliminate a $30 service charge for sewage customers if all goes according to plan, said Penn Hills Deputy Mayor Sara Kuhn.

Council voted unanimously last night for a resolution approving Portnoff ...

Tuesday, February 03, 2009

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

In a unanimous vote, the Penn Hills municipal council fired its manager last night.

Terry Van Horne, who did not attend the meeting, had been on the job since July 2007 and was the municipality's fourth manager in four years. He was a Democratic state legislator for 20 years before an unsuccessful run for U.S. Congress in 2000.

Mayor Anthony DeLuca Jr. said Mr. Van Horne did not move into the municipality ...

So! I have been thinking.... Has Penn Hills really changed so much?? When did this change happen and why? These questions have been on my mind a lot lately, and I kept going back to messages I've read awhile ago, one by someone going by PennHillsNative80. http://www.city-data.com/forum/pittsburgh/194898-penn-hills-2.html

Some on a Monroeville Message forum about UPMC moving into Monroeville, that went into Monroeville decline.

Sorry , but I have to ask this question, becasue of the rumors is that Senator DeLuca is running this community not his son Mayor Deluca.

Now, when I hear rumors, I usually take into consideration who I heard it from and then try to find out if they are true or not.

I'm not in favor of the political games that are being played in all elected offices, but I 'm not stupid in the facts that that's how things are done.

So, after living her for 19yrs and being a good citizen by paying ...

Hi All,

I was catching up on some reading and ran across this article. Basically the Tribune is reporting the Penn Hills Council hired a new municipal manager last summer. And there's a requirement that the Manager live in Penn Hills. The new guy they hired is having a problem selling his current home in order to more here. Penn Hills Mayor who supports the residency requirement, plans to ask council to consider granting a 90-day extension, IF they can legally give him more time. ...

You are right on with the need for businesses in this community. That is why I was a bit disappointed at the strategic planning meeting on Wednesday. They asked folks to vote on the most important things for the community and most folks said code enforcement of grass cutting and garbage clean up. Many of these folks were in their 60's-70's. That's why we need people to go to these meetings and tell the township that businesses are important. The planning committee is supposed to take the most ...
