Hope
I know what you mean. I used to have my water bill (oakmont water) automatically withdrawn because our mail person can never seem to get that little card into my mailbox - but that's another story . When they combined I thought I would do the same thing...not with these prices! Evil or Very Mad

lol! I'll join you with that idea David. I know years ago someone told me I should get a meter that goes on your outside water faucet? so you wouldn't be billed for the water I used outside for flowers/gardening/pool/car washing etc. Anyone out there know what she was talking about?? I can't remember exactly what it was.......argh!

From what I understand you have to purchase it from Oakmont Water Authority. I think it is around $30? not sure about the cost though. It might be worth it if you have a pool.

Hope,

It may be best to contact a council member for the best answers, but from what I remember, Penn Hills got into trouble 'many' years ago for dumping sewage and basically, we the citizens of Penn Hills are STILL paying for it. I will try to get more details for you.

PS love the puppy picture!

Hope,

quote from Progress dated 4-16-08: "Penn Hills needed to increase revenue from sewer services to pay down the $50 million sewer fund debt that ballooned to almost $92 million under previous administrations, which continually borrowed money and refinanced debt for the sewer fund, Kuhn said. The municipality accumulated the debt from repairs that were mandated by the federal sewer consent decree without Penn Hills receiving financial assistance from the state and federal governments for the repairs, she said. The sewer fee increase is not paying for the $150,000 fine associated with the consent decree, Kuhn said, adding the fine was paid in 1991."

So I guess we are NOT still paying this fine. I don't know if this helps you, if not, I can try to contact Mrs. Kuhn.

wow! $92 Million! Yikes! So that must be what the Consent Degree letter on the Municipality page is about. I don't know why I'm surprised the government would mandate something like that with no financial assistance. When I saw the Sample letter on the Municipality site I didn't totally understand what it was for, so I didn't act! NOW.....especially after seeing my bill...I'm writing the Senators and Congressmen listed on the bottom of the Sample letter. Thanks Carrie!!

P.S. I would love to have that cute puppy Smile
