Forbes Elementary and Linton Middle School Make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)

Today marked the first day of the 2010-2011 school year for faculty and staff in the Penn Hills School District. It was also a day for celebration. After a year of hard work and dedication, Linton Middle School achieved Adequate Yearly Progress in 21 of 21 subgroups. Last year Linton missed making AYP by a single subgroup, which made the news all the more gratifying for the faculty, staff and administration. If Linton achieves AYP in two consecutive years it will be removed from the Corrective Action list. Forbes Elementary also achieved AYP this year in all subgroups.
The High School made 20 out of 21 subgroups and barely missed making AYP. Although disappointing, clearly the evidence shows we are moving in the right direction. The students, faculty, staff and administration should be proud of their accomplishments last year.

WOW!!!! First Congratulations to Forbes!!! And a HUGH way to go to Linton!!!!!!!!!
This is such positive news for Penn Hills, IF Linton can make AYP ALL the schools can!!!!
Linton made the changes needed 2 years ago, and missed making AYP last year in one subgroup (IEP students in Math). Linton making AYP shows promise for ALL the Schools.
We know what's needed for the elementary Schools, before the closing of elementary buildings Penn Hebron made AYP.the The academy concept worked for Penn Hebron, the school district needs to go back to what we know works in the elementary schools.
Hopefully the School District will NOW stop blaming parents and students. All the children in the district are brought together at Linton. The Students didn't change, and the Parents didn't change.... The School DID!!! No more excuses!!
